The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institute of Health (NIH), National Institutes of Health Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center’s (NITAAC) has a continuing requirement to provide a mechanism for the federal government to procure IT commodity solutions as they relate to health and life sciences capabilities, and general Information Technology (IT) initiatives.

BACKGROUND

The Chief Information Officer – Commodity Solutions (CIO-CS) GWAC is a ten (10) year IDIQ contract. This contract is intended to provide information technology (IT) commodities and solutions as defined in FAR 2.101(b) and further clarified in the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996. These IT commodities and solutions include health and biomedical-related IT commodities to meet scientific, health, administrative, operational, managerial, and information management requirements. The contract also contains general IT commodities since medical systems are increasingly integrated within a broader IT architecture, requiring a systems approach to their implementation and a sound infrastructure for their operation.

Through this contract, the NIH, NITAAC will award multiple IDIQ contracts under which federal government agencies can award Fixed Price delivery orders to acquire IT commodities and solutions.
